my friends and i are leaving for charleston today. we're all doing the cooper river bridge run 10k tomorrow. it's exciting. i haven't trained well for this, but accomplishing it will be awesome. there will be a lot of people walking and walk/running the race, so it's not technically a "race" although some will treat it that way.

i'm not taking my digital camera this time. i'm going to take my old nikon FM and shoot only film. i wish i had a small digital camera to take on trips like this.

i'm registered for most of my classes in the fall. i'm waiting on one class to be added for registration and i have to get signed off to take another. next semester i will be taking 17 hours, most being art/studio classes. it's exciting and intimidating.

magazine/editorial portraits

along with the previous post of portraits i did for the local magazine, i also have these portraits of the featured business owners. i love the portrait because, even though it is posed and i did try to keep it serious, this group is not really a "serious" group, so the shots actually portray their personality well.

i should be putting up some of my photography, but i'm distracted, and other than hired work, i have nothing new. i do, though have another pretty cool photo i took for the greenwood magazine.

i got in my 70-200 2.8 lens last week. i haven't had time to properly give it a shot with portraits and other things, but hopefully soon enough.

for now...

excerpt from a song. - what if you -

I might not be leaving
Oh so soon
Began the night believing
I loved you in the moonlight

So, for tonight
I'll stay here with you
Yes, for tonight
I'll lay here with you

But when the sun
Hits your eyes
Through your window
There'll be nothing you can do

I could've treated you better
Better than this
Well, I'm gone, this song's your letter
Can't stay in one place

editorial work.

today i had a 3rd photoshoot for the local bi-monthly magazine. i learn something new about editorial portraiture every time i shoot, and today, i think i finally got something i'm really happy with. it helps that i finally have the lenses that i need to create the vision i have. i'm excited about the next issue. i have another shoot for the magazine on friday and i'm helping with two shoots in the next week.

the images aren't perfect and exactly my vision. i'm still rushing myself and just taking things as they are rather than making them how i want them. it's something i have to start forcing myself to do - slowing down, being fully aware of my environment, etc. overall, though, this is a huge improvement from the last 2 magazine shoots i had.

running with cameras

earlier this week i went to charleston with a friend of mine. while we were there, we decided to run/walk the cooper river bridge. had i of not had my camera with me on the bridge, we would have tried to do a proper run, but i wanted to take some photographs of it. the cooper river run (10k) is in 2.5 weeks. i'm sort of ready... i hope. i won't make any kind of record breaking time, but i at least won't be one of the last people crossing the finish line.

i'm still working on my vegetable series. it's a fun on going process. i'd like to develop the idea more, but for now i'm just working with leftovers on my counter top in my kitchen.
